You You must be a direct hire employee of Kraken’s legal entities in the UK.
Your Dependents Any child for whom you or your partner hold responsibility for. Dependent children can be covered on your policy up to the age of 24 and will be automatically removed from the policy at the renewal following their 24th birthday

How Long do I Have to Enrol?


Benefits Effective Dates
Medical and Dental Enrolment is automatic from your date of hire. You have 30 days from your hire date to enter your dependents or opt out of coverage.
Life Assurance and Income Protection Enrolment is automatic from your date of hire.
Pension You will be automatically enrolled following a 3 month postponement period, however, you can choose to enrol in the scheme before this date at your request. Should you wish to opt out of the pension scheme, you will have 30 days from your scheme effective date.
With the exception of the Pension benefit, the choices you make when you first become eligible to enrol in your benefits will remain in effect for the remainder of the plan year unless you experience a Life Event. How do I Enrol?

Eligible Krakenites will be automatically enroled into the benefits plans from your date of hire with the exception of the pension benefit. Bupa Private Medical (Bupa Select)

We’re proud to have partnered with Bupa to offer you a medical insurance plan designed to help you and your family get the quality care you need. Through your Bupa membership, you will have access to private medical treatment within the UK such as consultations, diagnostic tests, surgical procedures, and more.

Even better, Kraken will fund the full cost of the annual premium for you and your dependents, meaning you will only be responsible for the tax on the premiums paid!

Life Assurance through Canada Life provides financial security to you and your family if you pass away.

Canada Life – Life Assurance

Life Assurance can help protect those you love from financial hardship in the face of the unexpected.

Eligible Krakenites automatically receive Life Assurance coverage in the amount of 4 times your basic annual salary. This coverage is provided at no cost to you and is effective from your date of hire.

In the event anything should happen to you whilst employed by Kraken, the company will make a lump sum payment to the beneficiaries of your choosing.

You may choose anyone to be the beneficiary of your Life Assurance policy, therefore, it is good practice to review your nominated beneficiaries periodically to ensure they reflect your current wishes.

Income Protection through Canada Life provides financial security to you and your family if you become seriously ill or injured.

Canada Life – Income Protection

When you’re ill or injured, you may find yourself in unchartered waters. Kraken provides Income Protection assistance while you find your sea legs again.

Eligible Krakenites automatically receive Income Protection coverage. It pays a proportion of your lost earnings each month (75% of your basic salary), which could help cover your monthly outgoings so that you are able to focus on getting better and back to work. Payments will continue until you return to paid work, or you retire.

This coverage is provided at no cost to you and is effective from your date of hire.

Aviva

Being ready for retirement is an important part of financial wellness. The key to success is to start saving now! Kraken has partnered with Aviva, one of the UK’s leading wealth and retirement businesses, to provide you with a competitive Defined Contribution workplace pension scheme so you can save a ton of loot!

Following a 3 month postponement period, you will be automatically enrolled into the pension scheme.

The Aviva workplace pension offers a wide variety of investment options so that you can choose the best option to suit your lifestyle.

Kraken practices contribution matching at a 1:1 ratio up to a maximum employer match of 8%, enabling you to maximise your savings. Please see the table below for an illustration.

*The employer contribution match is capped at 8%, however, you can increase your employee contribution beyond 8% up to any level you are comfortable with, provided you do not reduce your net pay below the national minimum wage.

You can choose to opt out of your scheme if you are still within your 30 day opt out window (effective from your scheme start date), or alternatively, you can be placed on a ‘contribution holiday’ (if you are outside of your 30 day opt out window) which stops all contributions, both employee and employer, but keeps your scheme active.

Contribution changes however, can be made at any time in the year.
